Jermain esitteli idean ensimmäisenä vuonna 1921.
Vuonna 1979, kun Ison-Britannian ja Irlannin joukkuetta laajennettiin Euroopan maiden pelaajiin, muotoa tarkistettiin siten, että kahtena ensimmäisenä päivänä pelattiin neljä neljän pallon ja neljä nelinpelin ottelua ja kolmantena päivänä 12 kaksinpeliottelua. Kokonaispistemäärä oli 28.

Brandon Robinson-Thompson set a course record of 61 in the first round of the Bahrain Championship, leading by three shots. Despite a bogey at the last hole, he was pleased with his performance amidst challenging weather conditions. He narrowly missed equaling a tour record with eight birdies and two eagles. His career-best round left him eager for future success with his new caddy, while fellow Englishman Callum Tarren trailed in second place.
