1979年、グレート・ブリテン＆アイルランド・チームにヨーロッパ諸国の選手が加わることになったのを機に、フォーマットが変更され、初日と2日目に4ボール4試合とフォアサム4試合、3日目にシングルス12試合が行われることになった。獲得ポイントは28ポイントだった。
