It’s a massive opportunity for those none league teams that have battled their way through the preliminary rounds to face up to League opposition and give a good account of themselves. For some the chance to appear on national TV when they are used to playing front of crowds of hundreds is what it’s all about at this stage in the competition. First up for an upset are Eastleigh who welcome Swindon Town, the BBC wouldn’t have picked this game for their Friday night coverage unless there was a “chance” of an upset and it’s going to be really interesting to see how they get on!

Here we are at the 4th Round and there are still 2 non league teams battling away for the chance of glory. Sutton United host Leeds United in a game where I’m sure at the back of their minds they would take a draw for the chance to play at Elland Road. Whilst the other non leaguers Lincoln are at home to Brighton. To be honest both non league teams will fancy their chances of getting through having already caused a number of upsets between them and with home advantage who knows? The prize of a big chance of one of the big Premier League boys in the next round has to be a massive incentive for them.

After a pretty serious 4th round in terms of FA Cup upsets everybody is looking forward to this years 5th round. The only problem is that after having so many upsets you are sometimes left with a pretty dull fixture list. Not this time though with one absolute stand out tie with Manchester United visiting Chelsea on Monday the 18th. OGS will be wondering what he has to do to catch a break after travelling away to Arsenal in the 4th round. The other stand out game sees reigning Premier League champions Manchester City travel to Newport County, something that is bound to be a whole new experience for a lot of their players.

The 3rd Round of the FA Cup is the point at which dreams are either made or shattered, minnows from the lower leagues may get the chance to play their mega bucks rivals from the Premier League and as everybody knows upsets DO happen in the FA Cup. Whilst this years 3rd round draw hasn’t really brought out many potential giant killing stories there are still plenty of games where an upset is on the cards. High flying championship team Reading travel to Old Trafford (Again), Wolves will look to take advantage of Liverpool that recently lost for the first time in what seems like an age. Nottingham Forest might fancy their chances of an upset against a Chelsea team that are struggling to score. But for the true FA Cup romantics and what a lot of people will see as the tie of the round is the game between Accrington Stanley (Who are they? Exactly!) and Ipswich!

The 6th round of the FA Cup is just about here, or as us old fashioned people like to call it, the quarter finals. Right about now if you’re a Liverpool fan you’ve got to be rubbing your hands with delight. With so many upsets already in this years FA Cup what chance that the 2 top teams left in the competition get drawn against each at the quart final stage? Either way Manchester United or Arsenal are going to go out of the competition, on recent form you’d have to heavily fancy the gunners, even at Old Trafford. With the way United are playing the real question is will anybody still be awake at the final whistle? Bradford versus Reading ensures that 1 lower league team will be making it to the semi finals this year. That just leaves the Midlands derby of Villa against West Brom, a repeat of the recent and very close Premier League match. How will Villa perform in the cup when league survival has to be Tim Sherwood’s priority? If I was a betting man I’d have my money on a semi final line up looking something close to Reading, West Brom, Liverpool and Arsenal but seeing as how things have gone in this years FA Cup I wouldn’t be surprised if the total opposite was true.

After what has officially been the LONGEST EVER FA Cup tournament in history we are finally at the final stage. I think everybody will be glad to see the end of this season but the majority have got what they wished for, a derby final. Whilst most people thought it would be a Manchester derby when the semi draw was announced Arsenal and Chelsea both did numbers on the form teams of the top tier. A tactical master class by Arsenal did it for City and United just never turned up against a Chelsea team that took full advantage. So we are left with a London Derby as Chelsea play Arsenal in the 2020 FA Cup final. How strange is it going to be with no fans in the stadium on FA Cup final day? Massively! One thing is for sure though and that is that the pubs will be very busy.

Thanks to live streaming it is now possible to watch all your favourite FA Cup action live. With so many games all happening at the same time it’s hard even in this day and age of interactive TV for every fans favourite team to get air time on TV.
